The first few days of school can be a bore! Instead of the usual passing out textbooks and reading the rules and school handbook, our class played 31-Derful. This game, which the students played in groups of two, helped build team work and communication skills. The game also got their brains back into MATH mode!
The directions for the game can be found at the blog: Everybody is a Genius, or just click on the picture. The game is challenging and no two groups start or finish the same way. To the right are a few examples from class. There is also an online version at Funschool. The Marshmallow Challenge:
Another First week of school activity! This challenge has been used by all ages from Kindergarten to CEOs. The activity challenges teams to work together, brainstorm and share ideas then build as a team, making changes and adjustment as needed. The directions can be found at the marshmallowchallenge.com, or click on the picture. There is also a TEDtalk video on the site as well as pictures from various events. Our winning group reached 26 inches! |
