YouTube is a great site to watch music videos, see people doing silly things, watch cute animals scare eachother, but it is also a great site for teachers and students. As a teacher I can see myself using youtube to being in new ideas into the classroom. For example, I loved watching Bill Nye as a child, he made science fun, and as a teacher, I can show his videos to my students. The video below helps explain the concept of Atoms. Bill Nye explains atoms in a varriety of ways, which helps the students. He also shows an easy to do, home experiment on the topic of each video. And besides, who can't help but sing the theme song?!
Youtube is also a great resource for students to use when they need help. For math, there are many step-by-step videos on a wide range of topics from basic adding and subtracting all the way up to calculus and beyond. The second video is also by Bill Nye, but he helps students understand balancing equations by using cupcakes. Yumm!!
Teachers can even have students make their own Youtube videos to present to the class.
